Reminder - Support

F.A.Q.

Why are there already reminders in the app when I installed it?
Reminder uses the same database as the default Reminders app, so you can edit and view your reminders in either. That means any reminders you add will automatically be synced through iCloud to your other devices, and reminders added by Siri will appear in the app. You can even delete the default Reminders app and just use Reminder if you want.

Why do notifications sometimes not show?
Because of a limitation in iOS, the app does not receive updates to reminders while in the background. To mitigate this, the app uses iOS's Background App Refresh to check for new reminders. If you're noticing that you're not receiving updates while in the background, ensure the Background App Refresh setting for Reminder is enabled in the Settings app.

Error: Proximity-based alarms are not supported by this account.
The above error is caused by an Exchange account that also syncs reminders. This is a bug in iOS where if the reminders are set to sync for the Exchange account, then proximity-based alarms are disabled for all reminders (regardless of which account they're associated with). To rectify this, please go to Settings > Accounts & Passwords and select each account under the ACCOUNTS heading. For each Exchange account, ensure the switch beside "Reminders" is set to off. This will allow you to create proximity-based alarms once again.
